Give a man a fish…

Best Financial Mentors

There’s an old Chinese proverb saying: “Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime.”

Many wealthy people nowadays are focusing on the first part of the proverb which means they only use us as servants to get their jobs done.

Sadly, this is what happens in most of the governments as well. Almost all education systems do not focus on teaching students how to make money, how to manage them, how to keep them, or how to invest them.

These systems are based solely on memorizing unimportant and very little relevant pieces of data. They are useless in the world of today.

When I read the proverb from above my mind locks itself to the financial implications. People from all over the world do not have a financial education which is why most of them struggle and fight for the day. The bad thing is they blame others for their condition and wait for miracles to happen. Few realize this scenario is less likely to happen.

I learned from Brian Tracy that the key to financial success can be put into five words:

Spend less than you earn.

Now, can you do that? Here’s what I think.

To change the world, we have to start from the inside out. No single person is able to make a big change individually. We have to be united for the same purposes. And since there are not many successful people willing to “teach us how to fish”, we have to learn it ourselves.

It may be more difficult, but we have a strong ally. It is called Information Technology. It puts to our disposal everything we need from a theoretical point of view to succeed in any endeavor.

Never be passive and let the world pass by you. Move and act! Staying inert is against all laws of nature.

We can use the Internet to read or to watch anything on almost any subject. We only have to have the willingness and the ambition necessary to focus our actions into the attainment of our goals.

If this is the case, then why most of the people are still unhappy?

I personally think that it’s mostly because with all that information available people become uninterested in using it. When you have something or when you see something everyday and it is mostly the same, you become less and less interested in that thing.

Think of all the motivational pictures from Facebook. I mean, most of us don’t even see them anymore.

People are also unhappy because they are too lazy and prefer staying in their comfort zones waiting for others to save them or to make their life happier.  That’s not gonna happen. Move! Act!

When you realize that nobody is going to fight your battle (besides yourself), it will be too late. Regrets will be in vain and you’ll rather wish to die than live with the guilt. You will be frustrated and would not be the best teacher for other generations to come.

So, to be a teacher for others, you have to first be a teacher for yourself. Don’t be passive. Act!

As I said, we don’t have to wait for the successful ones to come and teach us how to fish. We can be our own professors. We can use different interactive materials (like tutorials or Youtube videos) to learn and we can learn better this way because we learn from more sources with more than one senses involved (eyes and ears).

Will Smith in Pursuit of Happiness was saying to his son:

“Don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something. Not even me.”
“You got a dream. You gotta protect it.”
“People can’t do something themselves, they tell you that you can’t do it.”

“If you want something, go get it. Period.”

The entire philosophy of success can be limited to the line above.

There should be no what ifs, no interest in what others think, and no thoughts on how you will reach your ultimate goals. There should only be you and your goals. Everything else should be flexible and changeable.

The tricky part is not to care about the opinions of others because it involves your ego and you can’t let go of it that easy.

However, as nothing is impossible, you can diminish the power that your ego has against you.

When you start understanding that most people are ego-centric and only care about themselves, you will know they have little time to care about your failures.

Is this so difficult to comprehend?

Is it so difficult to understand that instead of complaining about what negative effects other people, governments, or systems have on you, you can make a change within you, you can become your own teacher and succeed and then be the teacher for others?

If no-one does this, there will be fewer teachers and the world is not going to be a better place.

You have to let go of all misconceptions of education and start educating yourself. Stop feeling bad, frustrated, and angry on others. It does no good to you. It only worsens your condition.

If we all educate ourselves individually, we will, paradoxically, be more connected to each other because the psychology of education is the same. We will have something to share and there will be more teachers in this world.

I personally have a lot of people to thank because in the last year they made my existence unimaginably more vivid, intense, interesting, and happier.

Thanks Tim Ferris for sharing your personal experiments with us and for showing us that the human body can be so amazing.

Thanks Brian Tracy for whispering motivation into my ears while jogging.

Thanks Dale Carnegie for teaching me the philosophy of friendship. I read and listened to your book for more than 10 times, so far. There’s only a matter of time until I know it by heart. 🙂

Thanks Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump for educating me financially.

Thanks Napoleon Hill for telling me that “whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve“. I truly believe that you are right and I know that your 20 years of research on the psychology of success was not in vain.

Thanks Daniel Goleman for teaching me about emotional intelligence and thank you Dr. Joe Dispenza for letting me know such amazing and interesting stuff about the human brain.

They are only few of the mentors from whom I learned in the past 12 months and from whom all of you can learn to become better in everything that you do.

There are also a lot of amazing people out there to learn from. We just have to discover them one by one and apply their teachings in the best way possible to our own experiences.

Is there one person who made your existence better? Who is it? How did this person change your life? Please share your thoughts.
