About

gnm

I’m Cristi Vlad. I hold a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and I’m currently interested in genomics, epigenetics, bioinformatics, and rational thinking.

Before you read further:

There are many posts on the blog that do not reflect, or reflect only to a small extent, my current view of reality. Some are related to the ketogenic diet, some are related to personal development, and some to other aspects of my life.

In the past, I held a limiting view of the world (which I suspect was due to insufficient self-education). I was more gullible and credulous of non-scientific/pseudoscientific concepts involving, but not limited to: radiation, electromagnetism, nutritionism, ‘quantum’ quackery, the false dichotomy of diet fads (fat based vs. non-fat) and other trivial matters.

As I started reading more about the scientific method, about logical fallacies and cognitive biases, about science based medicine (different from evidence based), about meta-cognition (thinking about thinking) and about human behavior, I became more skeptical and began asking more questions instead of holding beliefs and making assumptions.

So, if you read posts that are a few months old (at the time of your visiting of the blog), chances are they are inaccurate reflections of my current life perspective. Please focus on the 3-4 most recent blog posts to get a fairly good notion of my perspective (frequently updated).

My current philosophy changes as I encounter good evidence and solid arguments to support the change. It is more fluid and flexible, instead of fixated and self-limiting.

With these in mind, please proceed reading at your convenience.
