About

gnm

I’m Cristi Vlad. I hold a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and I’m self-taught in genomics, machine learning, bioinformatics, cyber-security, and rational thinking.

Before you read further:

There are many posts on the blog that do not reflect, or reflect only to a small extent, my current worldview. Some are related to the ketogenic diet, some are related to self-improvement, and some to other aspects of my life. I keep them up for my future reference. 🙂

In the past, I held a rather limiting/narrow view of the world, which I suspect might have been due to insufficient self-education. I was more suggestible and credulous of non-scientific/pseudoscientific concepts involving, but not limited to: radiation, electromagnetism, nutritionism, and the false dichotomy of diet fads (fat based vs. non-fat), just to name a few.

As I started learning more about the scientific method, about logical fallacies and cognitive biases, about science based medicine (different from evidence based), about meta-cognition (thinking about thinking) and about human behavior, I became more skeptical and began asking more questions instead of holding beliefs and making assumptions.

So, if you read posts that are a few months old (at the time of your visiting of the blog), chances are they are inaccurate reflections of my current life perspective. Please focus on the 3-4 most recent blog posts to get a fairly good notion of my perspective (frequently updated).

My worldview changes as I encounter good evidence and solid arguments to support the change. It is more fluid and flexible, instead of fixated and self-limiting.

With these in mind, please proceed reading at your convenience.
